On Feb 1, 2018, at 8:00 am, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department will transition to StarCom21 communication network.
The purpose is to enhance law enforcement officer safety and protect citizens from the possibility of confidential information being transmitted and used for purposes other than intended. The StarCom21 system is a network capable of transmitting voice, data, and video. This system will be encrypted which will not allow for the monitoring of live calls.
A 72-hour dispatch log will be posted and regularly updated to provide information to citizens about activity occurring in the Winnebago county region. See here: https://data.illinois.gov/group/local-government.
