17th Judicial Court
general administrative authority within the circuit, subject to the overall administrative authority of the Supreme Court.
Adult Probation
supervises adults and enforces court orders
Animal Services
Animal Services helps animals find homes. We also take care of lost animals within the community.
Auditor
The County Auditor's Office reviews all claims against the County, approves all purchase orders, and maintains a continuous internal audit of all County departments and financial systems.
Board of Review
The Board of Review is responsible for the review and evaluation of assessment complaints.
Building
Issues permits for new construction, additions, remodeling, replacement, repair and performance inspections.
Children's Safe Harbor
The neutral exchange center offers safety and manages potential conflict when parents are exchanging their children for court ordered visitation.
Circuit Clerk
The circuit clerk processes and keeps all court records. Collects all court costs, filing fees, fines and any other costs assessed by the court. Assist circuit and associate judges in the daily functions fo the court.
Coroner
The coroner conducts investigations to determine the cause and manner of death, pursuant to the Illinois state statute.

Forest Preserve District
Provide recreational opportunities at sites throughout the county. The preserve also has three 18-hole golf courses, Atwood Homestead, Ledges and Macktown.
Health Department

Highway Department

Housing Authority
The W.C.H.A administers Section 8 vouchers and administers the Hope IV program.

Jury Commission
Determines the eligibility of prospective jurors from a combined listing of drivers and voters in Winnebago County.
Juvenile Detention Center
Responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all minors (children charged with crimes committed before their 17th birthday) held in secure custody.
Juvenile Probation
Provide supervision to individuals who have been ordered by the court to abide by certain conditions as part of a sentence.
Kids' Place
A safe and peaceful place for children of parents and guardians who have business in the courthouse.
Public Defender
Represents individuals involved in cases in various areas. Trial attorneys are responsible for representing clients assigned to them by the court.
Purchasing and Risk Management
Handles all loss prevention, insurance, safety programs and purchasing for the county.
Recorder
The library of land records for Winnebago County.
Regional Office of Education
Responsible for various administrative functions involving education.
Regional Planning and Economic Development
Establishes plans for the county's physical and community development in the unicorporated areas with the advice and consent of the county board.
River Bluff Nursing Home
River Bluff is a licensed skilled nursing facility. Provide skilled and intermediate nursing care. Certified for participation in Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Sheriff's Department
Provide law enforcement and correctional services to the citizens of Winnebago County.
State's Attorney
State's Attorney office has county-wide jurisdiction to prosecute various criminal offenses of adults and juveniles.

Zoning Planning & Mapping
