State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato
Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announces that Andre D. Hamler (D.O.B. 1/17/1976) was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a petition to vacate probation for Domestic Battery in front of the Honorable Judge Randy Wilt. The defendant will also be on mandatory supervised release for four years once he’s released from prison.
In January of 2016, Rockford City Police Officers responded to a home in the 1200 block of 6th Street for a welfare check. Officers met with a female victim, who said the defendant, Andre Hamler attacked her. The victim reported that Hamler hit her several times in the face, put his hands around her neck and threatened to kill her. Officers observed injuries on the victim’s face when they arrived on the scene.
Domestic Battery is a Class 4 Felony that in this case is punishable by a sentence of 1-6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by four years of Mandatory Supervised Release. The sentence will be served at 50%.
