Press Release-Audie C Murphy Jury Trial

Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announces that on September 27th, 2018,Audie C. Murphy (D.O.B. 6/17/1967) was found guilty of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver and Possession of a Controlled Substance after a jury trial in front of the Honorable Judge Ronald White.

On August 12th, 2015, a compliance parole check was conducted on the defendant, Audie C. Murphy at 224 N. Henrietta Avenue in Rockford.  The defendant sitting on the rear porch of the residence. Officers noticed he had a plastic bag in his right front pants pocket. Officers removed the bag and located 56 smaller bags of suspected heroin, 36 smaller bags of suspected crack cocaine and 3 smaller bags of suspected cocaine. The substances were sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab where they tested conclusively as heroin, crack cocaine and cocaine.

 

Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver within 1000 Feet of a Church is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a mandatory sentence of Natural Life in the Department of Corrections based on the defendant’s prior criminal record.

            Murphy is scheduled to appear in front of the Honorable Judge White at 8:30am on October 3rd, 2018 in Courtroom B of the Winnebago County Criminal Justice Center.
