Press Release-Brent Gleichauf Sentence

Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announces that on January 31st, 2017, Brent Gleichauf (D.O.B. 8/13/1981) was sentenced to a total of 34 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Judge John Lowry. Gleichauf was convicted of two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Unlawful Restraint after a jury trial in March of 2015.

 

In January of 2013, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police were called to Machesney Park to investigate an incident that had occurred inside a home there.  A female victim said Brent Gleichauf sexually assaulted her and refused to let her leave her apartment.  The victim was able to escape and run to a neighbor’s house to call the police.  

 

Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years to natural life of Mandatory Supervised Release.  The Honorable Judge Lowry sentenced the defendant to 16 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for each of the two counts he was convicted of.  These sentences will run consecutively. 

Aggravated Unlawful Restraint is a Class 3 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 2-5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by a year of Mandatory Supervised Release.  The Honorable Judge Lowry sentenced the defendant to 2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on this charge.  This sentence will run consecutive to the other sentences.
