Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announces that Charles M. Tucker (D.O.B. 2/15/1968) was sentenced to 66 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Judge Rosemary Collins. Tucker was found guilty of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse after a Bench Trial in March.
In July of 2013, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police were made aware of an allegation of sexual abuse by the defendant, Charles Tucker. The investigation revealed Tucker had an inappropriate sexual relationship with an individual who was under the age of 13 at the time. The defendant was an employee at North Love Baptist Church and was 42 years old when the abuse occurred. According to detectives, some of the abuse happened at the church while the defendant was working there.
Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release up to Natural Life . The defendant was sentenced to 15 years in the Department of Corrections on each of the four counts he was convicted of. The sentences will be served consecutively and at 85% under Illinois State Statute.
Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse is a Class 2 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 3-7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections follows by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release. The defendant was sentenced to six years on each of the nine counts he was convicted of. The Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse sentences will be served consecutively to the sentences on the Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault sentences and concurrently with each other at 50% under Illinois State Statute.
