Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announces charges against an Ice Skating Coach, who at the time of the alleged offenses, was employed by the Rockford Park District.
Illinois State Police conducted an investigation after two women recently reported that the defendant,Eugene N. Heffron,had touched them inappropriately during ice skating lessons. The alleged abuse happened in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2008 at Riverview Ice House and at the Carlson Ice Arena. The victims were under the age of 17 at the time of the alleged offense.
Eugene N. Heffron (D.O.B. 10/12/1939)is currently charged with three counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse. The defendant is being held in the Winnebago County Jail on $250,000 bond. Heffron is also court ordered to not have contact with any children under the age of 17.

Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse is a Class 2 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 3-7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
The charges are merely allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
