Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announces that Jason R. Guski (D.O.B. 10/2/1968) pled guilty to First Degree Murder in front of the Honorable Judge Fernando Engelsma. Guski was sentenced to 35 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and will be on Mandatory Supervised Release for three years once he is released from prison.
On June 29th, of 2016, Rockford Police responded to a welfare check in the 3300 Block of Lapey Street. Officers found the body of the victim, Tammy Hudson in one of bedrooms. Jason Guski was also in the bedroom, and when he was questioned later by police, he admitted to killing Hudson. An autopsy showed Hudson died as a result of being stabbed. Guski was out on bond at the time of the murder. He was released from jail on May 20, 2016 for a prior domestic battery against Hudson and as a condition of that bond, he was court ordered to have no contact with the victim.
First Degree Murder is a Class M Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 20-60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
