Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announces that a five count bill of indictment has been filed against a Cherry Valley Police Officer.
In January, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office started investigating allegations that a Cherry Valley Police Officer was involved in a sexual relationship with a child under the age of 18 years old. Throughout the course of the investigation, Detectives were able to determine the relationship happened between August of 2017 and November of 2017. Personette was a prior supervisor of the Cherry Valley Police Department’s Explorer Program.
Jason B. Personette (D.O.B. 10/9/1982)faces five counts of Criminal Sex Assault which is a Class 1 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 4-15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The sentence is followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
Personette is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon at 1:30pm in Courtroom B.
The charges are merely allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
