Press Release-Ronald Miller Jury Trial

Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announces that on October 12th, 2017, Ronald A. Miller (D.O.B. 3/13/1981) was found guilty of two counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse after a jury trial in front of the Honorable Judge Joseph McGraw.

 

Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police began an investigation after a child, under the age of 13, came forward and reported that the defendant, Ronald Miller, sexually abused her. The abuse occurred between December of 2014 and July of 2015.  

 

Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years to Natural Life of Mandatory Supervised Release.  The defendant will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse is a Class 2 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 3-7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections or probation, followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.  The defendant will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

These counts must be served consecutively, so the mandatory minimum sentence is 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, and the maximum sentence is 127 years in prison.

 

Miller is scheduled for a status hearing in front of the Honorable Judge McGraw at 9am on December 5th, 2017 in Courtroom 209.
