Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that a Rockford man has been indicted by a Grand Jury for a domestic related shooting that happened last month.

On April 4th, 2019, Rockford Police Officers responded to the 4000 Block of Auburn Road after a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers met with a female victim who reported she had been physically attacked and shot at by the defendant, Stephen L. Boddie, Jr. (D.O.B. 7/7/1989). Detectives conducted a follow up investigation that was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized against the defendant. Boddie was recently indicted by a Winnebago County Grand Jury on Armed Habitual Criminal, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Aggravated Domestic Battery Charges.

 

Armed Habitual Criminal is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

 Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm is a Class 1 Felony that is punishable by mandatory Class X Felony sentencing of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

Possession of a Stolen Firearm is a Class 2 Felony that is punishable by mandatory Class X Felony sentencing of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

Aggravated Domestic Battery is a Class 2 that is punishable by mandatory Class X Felony sentencing of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

 

Boddie is scheduled to be arraigned at 9:00am on May 7th, 2019, in front of the Honorable Judge Joseph McGraw in Courtroom A of the Winnebago County Justice Center.

 

The charges are merely allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
