Press Release-Zedvie Santos Sentence

State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross

 

          Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that Zedvie L. Santos (DOB: 2/22/1966) was sentenced to 14 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Judge Randy Wilt. The defendant will also be on mandatory supervised release for three years after she is released from prison. Santos pled guilty to Home Invasion, then the court found her guilty but mentally ill subsequent to her guilty plea.

 

           On March 11th, 2018, Rockford Police Officers responded to a Rockford hospital in reference to a battery victim. Upon arrival, Officers met with an adult male, who reported he was inside his apartment in the 400 block of Court Street, when someone knocked on his door.  The victim opened the door and an unknown female pushed her way inside his residence. The female began battering the male and demanded all his money. Rockford Police Detectives conducted a follow up investigation and Zedvie Santos was developed as the suspect. The investigation was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office for charges. Santos was subsequently indicted by a grand jury on Home Invasion charges. 

 

            Home Invasion is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release. Santos was sentenced to 14 years in the Department of Corrections which will be served at 50%.
