The Winnebago County Supervisor of Assessments is required to assemble all Township Assessors annually and instruct them in uniformity of their functions. The meeting for 2016 assessments was held on December 18, 2015. The information presented at the meeting also needs to be made available to the general public. We are making it available by posting it on our website. This information should serve to keep the taxpaying public better informed and demonstrate our commitment to openness and transparency.
The Supervisor of Assessments Office is responsible for the publication and mailing of Assessment Change Notices on all taxable parcels. The Office also maintains all records for Homestead Exemptions. They assist taxpayers with the filing of property tax exemptions and any questions they may have in understanding the assessment process for their property.
The Supervisor of Assessments Office also assists Township Assessors in the performance of their duties, as well assisting the Board of Review in completing their responsibilities to maintain a timely tax cycle.
