The Steering Committee provides a governing structure for the Ellis Heights Weed & Seed area. It convenes key stakeholders, identifies the areas of greatest need, and facilitates collaboration.
This sub-committee's goals are to improve cooperation between residents and the police departments to fight crime; to improve communitcation between the police departments, the youth and residents of the area. It aims to reduce violent crime and drug activity; to reduce gang activity in the designated area.
- PREVENTION / INTERVENTION / TREATMENT
This sub-committe's goals are to provide positive opportunities for youth as an alternative to drug use, gang involvement and violent behavior. To establish at least two Safe Havens for youth and adults, and to provide social services that increase the quality of life for citizens in the designated area.
- NEIGHBORHOOD RESTORATION / PROBLEM PROPERTIES
This sub-committe's goals is to improve the appearance, quality and availability of housing; to improve enforcement of city and county codes and ordinances.
