Sheriff Gary Caruana announces that on Thursday February 8th, 2018 at 3:00 PM, 15 Winnebago County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies will be awarded Senior Deputy Status.

The process to attain the rank of Senior Deputy involves several steps.  The Deputy must have 10 years of uninterrupted service with the Sheriff’s Department as a merited Deputy.

There is a written testing process and ultimately an oral interview process that is conducted by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Merit Commission.

In addition to the Senior Deputy Status Achievement, Sheriff Caruana will present a Lifesaving award to a Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputy, in cooperation with Mercyhealth who will also have representatives present at the event.

Media Outlets are asked to enter at the lobby of the Winnebago County Justice Center at 650 W. State St, Rockford Il by 2:45 Pm.  Media will be escorted to the Sheriff’s Roll call room where the presentation will be held.
