Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that a Grand Jury has returned indictments against three men for a home invasion that occurred recently at a Rockford residence.

 

On August 2nd, 2019, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home in the 4100 block of Florence Avenue in reference to a home invasion.  Upon arrival, Deputies met with a male victim, who reported he was at home when three males wearing masks and bandanas forced their way into his residence. The victim reported that two of the three suspects were armed with a weapon. The suspects demanded money and took multiple items from inside the residence before they fled the area. Sheriff’s Detectives conducted a follow up investigation that was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.  As a result, charges were authorized against Lontavious N. Derring (DOB: 4/20/1993), Marcus A. Oliver (DOB: 1/12/1991) and Raymond J. Willis (DOB: 6/13/1985).All three men were recently indicted by a Winnebago County Grand Jury on Home Invasion, Aggravated Robbery, Residential Burglary and Possession of Another’s Debit or Credit Card charges.

 

Home Invasion is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

Aggravated Robbery is a Class 1 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 4-15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

  Residential Burglary is a Class 1 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 4-15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by a year of Mandatory Supervised Release.

            Possession of Another’s Debit or Credit Card is a Class 4 Felony that is punishable by an extended sentence of 1-6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by a year of Mandatory Supervised Release.  

 

            Derring is currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment at 9:00am on October 30th, 2019, by the Honorable Judge Jennifer Clifford in Courtroom B at the Winnebago County Justice Center.

            Willis is currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment at 9:00am on October 30th, 2019, by the Honorable Judge Jennifer Clifford in Courtroom B at the Winnebago County Justice Center.

     Oliver is currently in custody at the Winnebago COunty Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 17th, 2019, at 1:30pm in Courtroom B at the Winnebago County Justice Center. 

         The charges are merely allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
