Press Release-Gerald Osborn Plea

Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that on March 22nd, 2019, Gerald W. Osborn (D.O.B. 6/27/1987) pled guilty to armed robbery in front of the Honorable Judge John Lowry. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and will be on Mandatory Supervised Release for three years as part of this plea.

On July 4th, 2018, Rockford Police Officers responded to 501 North Springfield Avenue after a report of an armed robbery with a knife. When officers were in route, dispatch advised that the suspect may have fled. Police were able to track the suspect vehicle to the 200 block of Cameron Avenue. Officers identified the diver as the defendant, Gerald Osborn. Osborn was positively identified by witnesses as the person who walked in to the Family Dollar on North Springfield Avenue, armed with a knife and demanded money from the register.


            Armed Robbery is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
