Press Release-Peralta and Peralta Barrios Indictments

Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that two men have been indicted by a Grand Jury for their roles in an armed robbery at a Rockford gas station in September.


On September 6th, 2018, Rockford Police officers responded to the Circle K gas station in the 3800 Block of Broadway after a report of an armed robbery. Detectives from the Violent Crime Unit learned that a male suspect pointed a weapon at the clerk and demanded money from the registers. The victim was not hurt. After a follow up investigation was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office charges were authorized first against Julian Peralta (D.O.B. 6/11/2000).  Peralta was indicted by a Winnebago County Grand Jury on a one count bill of indictment for Armed Robbery in October. Recently, another defendant, Manuel Peralta Barrios (D.O.B. 11/10/1996) was also indicted by a Grand Jury for the Armed Robbery.


Armed Robbery is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.


Peralta is currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail. He is scheduled to be in court at 9am on January 15th, 2019, in front of the Honorable Judge Randy Wilt in Courtroom 478.

Peralta Barrios is scheduled to be arraigned at 9am on January 18th, 2019, in front of the Honorable Judge John Lowry in Courtroom B at the Winnebago County Criminal Justice Center.


The charges are merely allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
