State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross
Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that on January 23rd, 2019, Adontis T. Hoskins (D.O.B. 11/16/1993) was found guilty of Aggravated Domestic Battery (Strangulation), Aggravated Domestic Battery (Great Bodily Harm), Battery and Interfering with the Reporting of Domestic Violence after a jury trial in front of the Honorable Judge Debra Schafer.
On August 25th, 2018, Rockford Police Officers responded to an apartment in the 400 Block of Bancroft Court where they located Adontis Hoskins. An investigation revealed that Hoskins strangled and battered the victim. When a minor child called police to report the incident, the defendant assaulted the minor as well.
Aggravated Domestic Battery is a Class 2 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 3-7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by four years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
Battery is a Class A Misdemeanor that is punishable by a sentence of up to a year in the Winnebago County Jail.
Interfering with the Reporting of Domestic Violence is a Class A Misdemeanor that is punishable by a sentence of up to a year in the Winnebago County Jail.
Hoskins is scheduled to be back in court at 9:00am on February 4, 2019 in front of the Honorable Judge Schafer in Courtroom 467 at the Winnebago County Courthouse to schedule a sentencing hearing date.
