Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announces that Diondre Simpson (D.O.B. 1/22/1994) pled guilty to Aggravated Domestic Battery in front of the Honorable Judge Randy Wilt.
On August 8th, 2016, Rockford Police were called to an apartment in the 4000 Block of Auburn Street to investigate an incident. Officers learned that a female victim asked Diondre Simpson to leave her apartment, and he refused. Simpson became upset and grabbed the victim by the neck and strangled her. The attack was witnessed by another individual who called 911.
Aggravated Domestic Battery is a Class 2 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of probation or 3-7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Any probation sentence would be accompanied by a mandatory minimum of 60 days in jail. Truth in Sentencing would apply to any prison sentence which would be served at 85%, followed by four years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
Simpson is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:30pm on July 7th, 2017 by the Honorable Judge Wilt in Courtroom 467.
