State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross
Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that a Rockford man has been indicted by a Grand Jury for a murder at Fairgrounds Park.
On April 26th, 2019, Rockford Police and Rockford Park District Police officers responded to 450 Kilburn Avenue for a man down. Officers discovered a man, later identified at Ronnie J. Ray, lying inside the gazebo at Fairgrounds Park. The victim was suffering from multiple stab wounds and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined that the victim died as a result of multiple stab wounds. Rockford Police Department Violent Crimes Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation that was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result charges were authorized and a warrant was issued for the defendant, Keith M. Delao (D.O.B. 2/29/1996). Delao was recently indicted by a Winnebago County Grand Jury on six counts of First Degree Murder charges.
First Degree Murder is a Class M Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 20-60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
Delao is currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 9:00am on June 13th, 2019 in front of the Honorable Judge Randy Wilt in Courtroom B at the Winnebago County Justice Center.
The charges are merely allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
